Here's our interview with the amazing photograpahy Graham Martin MenArt He has the tough job of getting gorgeous hunks to strip down to their undies or losing them altogether and then take pictures of them! GM: "When I hung up my corporate sales hat five years ago to follow my passion I thought I was going to be more about nice views and pretty flower photography. That was until I photographed my first male portrait soon after I became a pro photographer and I was hooked!!!
I aim to create a piece of art with every single picture I take. Not all the guys I work with have gym fit bodies but they all look amazing in different ways. As well as my books I photograph all kinds of guys of any age and shape for their private use. Of course I love the super fit bodies but I get equal enjoyment working with normal guys. Nothing pleases me more than to let them express themselves in front of the camera whilst I capture them at their best.
Everything is the same on their shoots as it is with the muscle guys. They get the same attention to detail and my desire to create artistic pictures for them I think my oldest client was about Every year I will be creating a very limited run of art books for a discerning market.
The price tag is understandably high, at least four figures, but I like to think the few lucky people that get to buy a copy will have something that will appreciate in value over the years. Anyone interested in finding out more about this is welcome to message me or email me, grahammartin btinternet. This will be out toward the end of the year. WEC: ""Which photographers do you admire the most and what advice would you give to anyone interested in following in your footsteps? My all-time favourite photographer is Paul Freeman. He has created several art books and I love every one of them.
He understands men and what makes them look hot. Beyond that there are many fitness and art photographers I like but Paul is number on for me. Of course I am looking at pictures all the time online and gain inspiration along the way but I really love just doing my own thing. WEC "If you were shooting the next Calvin Klein underwear campaign which 5 models would you pick and why? Let me answer this way. I always look to work with guys that I have worked with before, especially if they have worked for free. Both models and photographers do a lot of free work so if I ever get a chance to put some money a models way I will.
I have worked with so many guys that are fit enough to shoot a CK campaign so I would have no trouble finding five or a lot more in fact! GM: "I aim to keep it looking natural whilst enhancing what is already there.
Nothing wrong in a little digital makeup, especially for blemishes. We all know a spot will appear on the day of a shoot! WEC: "Do you think the double standards on Facebook regarding the male body has become less strict in the last year or do you still think twice about posting some of your more naked shots?
GM: "I think they have for some but I am super careful. I have been banned several times. Sadly, I have a few people that seem to be waiting on the side-line to get me. WEC: "You shoot alot of guys naked do you enjoy doing those shoots, who's more nervous you or the model? What's the perfect angle to shoot a willy and which guys would you love to do a naked shoot with?
GM: "I do love the naked shoots. Not more than clothed ones, although they often include both. Guys really get excited about getting their kit off in front of the camera and I love witnessing their enjoyment, hey it creates popular pictures! Even if I was nervous I would never show it. But first time models are nervous when they arrive. In fact most guys find it quite liberating to be allowed without judgment to be totally naked in the studio. But pin me down to one name and it would have to be Tom Daley for sure. WEC: "How would you describe your style, what makes the perfect shot and have you ever had any funny or embarrassing mishaps whilst shooting?
GM: "My personal style while shooting is very relaxed. My picture style is aiming for a natural look. Tending toward dark and aiming to be sexy. Embarrassing moment; sending a set of art nudes to a very sweet old lay in America by mistake. WEC: "Describe the perfect male fitness model and how do guys get in touch if they want to shoot with you? I am sucker for nice eyes more than anything else so if guys want to come and flutter their eyebrows for me they can email me on grahammartin btinternet.
WEC: "Why do you think the boys are taking over? With the demise of page 3 girls, lads mags and lap dancing clubs, hunky men are everywhere! A huge thank you to Graham for taking time out to chat to us and giving us such a fascinating insight into his work. Look out for some of Graham's naked shots over the weeks during willywednesday on our Twitter page twitter.
